I had nobody to run lines with. So I built something that runs them with me, and now I read for other actors too.
Hello. My name is Brogan Fox. I am an actor in Manchester. Self-tapes land at 9pm and are due at 9am, and there is never anyone awake to read the other part. This page is the two answers I came up with: a free app that reads opposite you and listens for your cue, and me, a real person, reading opposite you on video when you would rather have a human.
A real reader, tonight
free reader sessions left for the first actors who will give an honest review afterwards. You fill the review in yourself at the end of the session. Nothing is written for you.
How it works
- Message me on WhatsApp with the sides, your part, and when you want to run it.
- I reply with a time. Evenings and late nights are fine, that is when tapes get made.
- We run it on video. For an edit, send the takes after and I send the finished tape back within the hour.
- Pay by PayPal or bank transfer once you are happy with it. Not before.
The free app
- It reads the other partsPaste or photograph your sides. It works out who is who and reads every other character in a chosen voice, British accents included.
- It listens for your cueSay your line and it answers when you finish, not on a timer. Freeze mid-line and a hint shows the next few words.
- Lines fade as you learn themRun it enough times and your lines hide themselves, with a report of what you had and what you dropped.
- Record the tape in the same appFront camera, eyeline marker, slate card, countdown, the reader playing through the speaker. Trim and share.
- Coach notes after a takeFive measures on a star chart, what worked, what to fix, and what to drill next. Written from the script's own tone, not a generic pep talk.
